Join Jody Ball every Tuesday evening in June from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM for a Beginner’s Drawing Class at Arts on Main!
Drawing skills are important to anyone wanting to begin a two-dimensional artistic journey, whether on paper with pencils or canvas with paints. This series of four classes will provide you with the information and practice necessary to develop basic drawing skills! We will use line and value to create three-dimensional drawings on a two-dimensional paper surface. You will be taught to see objects as they really are and apply drawing skills to render a subject as it really is in a variety of ways. You will gain a new appreciation for how things are created and be taught to observe a subject, separating it in your mind to build it back on paper. We will use a variety of graphite pencils, a sketchbook and erasers. Practice work outside of the class is highly recommended!
All skill levels are welcome!
Ages 12+

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
I have always doodled with a pencil and had an affinity for the arts. As a child, my parents enrolled me in art lessons with a hometown artist after my mother declared that all I did was draw and color! As an adult wanting serious artistic direction, I began to take drawing classes at a local art center in Ohio. Those classes challenged my abilities! I entered the art shows there and started to win awards and sell my paintings. The knowledge I received in those drawing classes was exactly what I needed to get started in other art mediums. I love them all, but pastels and oils are my favorite! Fondly remembering the classes I took as a child, I taught art to students of all ages for many years in a homeschool co-op environment. I also passionately taught kids and adults in my studio when I lived in OhioI now live in Deltaville to be close to family. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, Ray. We have three daughters and seven grandchildren, and family brings us the greatest joy!
