"Climate Catastrophes" featuring kathy klein
Friday, January 5
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
In Climate Catastrophes, kathy klein explores the often-terrifying moments when nature unleashes an attack on us, an attack which we are powerless to halt. Whether fires in California where her family lives or hurricanes that come up the coast to swirl around Gloucester, these climate moments leave people defenseless. Approaching the subject matter abstractly in paintings ranging from 6x6 to 36x48, klein presents the impact of the natural world gone wild. Floods and drought join the hurricanes and fires as current climatic conditions we face. And sea level rise which threatens those of us who live on the riverfront remains a future catastrophe to be faced. Abstract paintings of the glaciers and ice ledges of Antarctica mingle with those of flooded fields and grains of sand, the roar of fires, and the winds to evoke the wonder and danger of nature.
The opening of this exhibition will take place at Arts on Main on Frist Friday, January 5th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. This event is FREE and open to the public. Light refreshments + beer and wine will be available for purchase. The exhibit will be on display until Saturday, January 27th.
