Linocut Printmaking Workshop

Ready, set, carve! In this two-day workshop, you will learn techniques of linocut relief printmaking and the fascinating history of this traditional medium. You'll design, carve, and print a 6"x8" linoleum block, and you'll leave with five original handmade prints of your own design on 8”x10” paper. We will cover various techniques of carving and printing to create your finished product. This is workshop is beginner friendly: no experience is necessary and all supplies will provided by the instructor, including a linoleum cutter to take home and continue printmaking on your own! All you need to bring is an apron, or clothes you don’t mind getting ink on!
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Lauren Sowder is a multi-media artist based in Newport News, Virginia, with a BA in English and Studio Art from Christopher Newport University. She works primarily in printmaking and watercolor, using her art to celebrate the connection between humanity and the natural world.
