Join Renate Bumgarner at Arts on Main every Thursday from 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM for an Oil Painting Class!
Bring your work and let Renate help you go to the next level. She is an expert in oil and watercolor. Bring a photo or reproduction of a painting to work on, as large as possible and clear. Keep it simple.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Renate Bumgarner is an award winning European born artist who studied and worked during her early years in Germany. A widow at 29, she studied art in Frankfurt and later in Wurzburg at the Institute of Art. While working for the US Military in Germany, she was an instructor at the Education Center in Schweinfurt.
in 1976, she and her new husband moved to Virginia, where again she studied art at Thomas Nelson Community College and worked with many well known artists in the area. At this time she started working with stained glass. Currently, she works primarily in oil, watercolor and pastel. She has received many awards at shows and exhibitions over the past years-too many to list.
In 1996, a widow again, she moved to the Middle Peninsula. She and a friend started the Art League of Gloucester where she became the leagues first president. She is currently volunteering at several co-op galleries.
Renate Bumgarner continues to display her works in Europe at select galleries. You can find her work locally displayed at galleries in Fredericksburg, Gloucester, Norfolk, Williamsburg, Mathews and Yorktown Virginia. The Village Gallery and Gloucester Arts on Main both show her work. Private and Corporate commissions Welcome.
