Join Jody Ball on Saturday, February 1st from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM for a Pastel Primer Workshop at Arts on Main!
This workshop is all about learning and practicing the basics of the pastel medium! You will learn how to become comfortable and understand how to work with pastels. We will explore all aspects using chalk-like pastel sticks. You will be taught tips and techniques while practicing with different pastel paper surfaces and pastel types. This will give you the knowledge and ability to complete a lovely evening waterscape painting in class to take home! Shortly, Jody will be teaching a "Pet Portraits in Pastel" workshop, and this is the perfect primer class to help you get a head start in the world of pastels!
All supplies will be provided by the instructor. For ages 12+

“Drawing and painting have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. As a child, my parents enrolled me in art lessons with a prominent hometown artist after my mother declared that all I did was draw and color! I now live in Deltaville, VA but passionately taught art to students of all ages for many years in a homeschool co-op environment and my studio when I lived in Ohio. My first love is the pastel medium and my representational paintings usually tend towards a softened, sometimes impressionistic appearance. Nature is my inspiration and I am possessed by the colors, forms, and textures that are possible in creating two-dimensional art. My paintings grace the walls of many homes across the country and I currently show my paintings at the RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock.”
