Pet Portraits in Pastel

Join Jody Ball for a Pastel Pet Portrait Class every Saturday March 15th - March 29th from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at Arts on Main!
Create an heirloom treasure of your beloved pet in this class, all animal types are welcome! You will be guided step by step to create a successful pet or animal portrait in pastel from beginning to end. You will learn how to render fur or feathers and other elements necessary in creating animals whether it barks, meows, roars or chirps! This class will give you a deeper understanding of the pastel process. By the end of three weeks, you will walk away with a treasured animal portrait suitable for framing!
Please email one clear photo of your pet, preferably a head and/or shoulders pose that you would like to replicate to Hanah Hailey at communications@gloucesterartsonmain.org no later than March 10. This will be reproduced and used as part of the class for your portrait.

“Drawing and painting have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. As a child, my parents enrolled me in art lessons with a prominent hometown artist after my mother declared that all I did was draw and color! I now live in Deltaville, VA but passionately taught art to students of all ages for many years in a homeschool co-op environment and my studio when I lived in Ohio. My first love is the pastel medium and my representational paintings usually tend towards a softened, sometimes impressionistic appearance. Nature is my inspiration and I am possessed by the colors, forms, and textures that are possible in creating two-dimensional art. My paintings grace the walls of many homes across the country and I currently show my paintings at the RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock.”
