The First Steps - A Drawing Workshop
Instructor: Jody Ball
Saturday, May 10
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Join Jody Ball on Saturday, May 10 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM for a beginner’s drawing workshop at Arts on Main!
Good drawing skills are important to anyone wanting to begin a two-dimensional artistic journey, whether on paper with pencils or canvas with paints. If you have had the dream but felt the frustration of trying to draw on your own without results, this workshop will open the door to new beginnings in art and skill! In this workshop, we will work on projects that are important first steps to understanding the art of drawing. After concentrating on value, we will work together and create a simple dimensional drawing from life using light and shadow as our guide. By the end of the day, you will be rewarded with fresh new ideas and a completed practice drawing. Drawing is such a delightful exercise! By understanding and practicing, and if you have the desire, I believe anyone can learn how to draw. This workshop is the first step; give it a try!
All supplies will be provided by the instructor.
For ages 12+
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
I have always doodled with a pencil and had an affinity for the arts. As a child, my parents enrolled me in art lessons with a hometown artist after my mother declared that all I did was draw and color! As an adult wanting serious artistic direction, I began to take drawing classes at a local art center in Ohio. Those classes challenged my abilities! I entered the art shows there and started to win awards and sell my paintings. The knowledge I received in those drawing classes was exactly what I needed to get started in other art mediums. I love them all, but pastels and oils are my favorite!Fondly remembering the classes I took as a child, I taught art to students of all ages for many years in a homeschool co-op environment. I also passionately taught kids and adults in my studio when I lived in OhioI now live in Deltaville to be close to family. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, Ray. We have three daughters and seven grandchildren, and family brings us the greatest joy!
